The Cookeville Fall Fun Fest is a two day event that melds a national barbeque competition with a downtown street festival, which includes two music stages, a lot of excellent kid and family activities, good food, a skateboarding area, street performers, and a relatively small but admirable crafts area. Last year's estimated attendance was well over 20,000. The craft area is limited to one street, which yields 20 booth spaces, 10ft X 10ft each.
The craft area is "officially" advertised as a Saturday event, however, you have the option of setting up on Friday between 12:00-3:00, and selling as late as you wish. I would highly encourage this, as there is really good turnout, between the BBQ crowd, and those coming for the live entertainment, which usually goes on until about 9:30.
If you choose to skip Friday, set up on Saturday between 6:00-9:00 a.m. You must sell until 6:00 p.m., but again you have the option to stay later. Saturday night is the "mainliner" band, a lot of people are coming into the festival in the evening. Electricity is available to all booths. Vehicles are only permitted in the area during the set-up and take-down times, but the area is easily accessible. Security for the entire area is provided by Cookeville City Police, however, neither the city nor Highland Rim Chapter of TACA are liable for loss, theft or damage, etc, etc. I can say that over the past 8 years that I have been involved with this event, that there has not been any problem with overnight vandalism or theft. Small town, good cops, plus we're right next to the BBQ people and they're up all night smokin' their meat.
This is a juried event sponsored by the Highland Rim Chapter of TACA, rules and guidelines are contained in the application form.
The Cookeville Fall Fun Fest is a high quality event which draws a large and diverse crowd, all lured in by live music, Sesame St. characters, smoked meat or some combination thereof.
Ever since our chapter was given the opportunity to coordinate the arts and crafts area of the Fall Fun Fest, the level of quality of the work displayed has risen year after year, to such that I believe people come looking forward to finding and buying unique handcrafted artwork.
If you would like to participate in the Fall Fun Fest 2010 - Art & Craft Fair please read, fill out, and send in your application by July 15th.
