TACA Highland Rim Chapter February 2004 Newsletter & Minutes
February 6, 2004 Meeting Minutes:
The Chapter met at the home of Carol Ventura and Andrzej Gutek and enjoyed a potluck dinner before the meeting. Members in attendance were: Jeanne Brady, Susan DeMay, Tom Fuhrman, Noreen Grisolano, Andrzej Gutek, Tim Hintz, Merritt Ireland, Claudia Lee, John Lucas, Adele Seitzinger, Sarah Seitzinger, and Carol Ventura.
After Noreen reported that the Chapter had a balance of $1,446.02 in the bank, the Chapter decided to donate $50 to the new TACA West Chapter, $340 for 16 TACA Marketing Workshop scholarships, and $100 to Pacesetters for an exhibition postcard.
Jeanne and Adele relayed information from the TACA board about chapter booths, the TACA web site, the name change for the TACA Fairs, the Wholesale Marketing Workshop (see below), and the proposed TACA retail space.
Bill and April Mullins (Friends of TACA) will help with fundraising for the TACA retail store. Three TACA members will be honored at the kick-off event on April 15th at the Frist Center.
TACA Fair, April 30 May 2, 2004:
A group booth will only be possible for the Tennessee Crafts Fair in Nashville if two more members decided to join Mike, Adele, and Vera (5 members are required to have a TACA Chapter Booth). The cost per person is $25, plus a sales commission to TACA. If you would like to participate in the Highland Rim Chapter Booth, you must notify Mike Whiteman (931-432-6313), who has agreed to chair the booth, before March 15th. The configuration of the Chapter Tent will be different this year; instead of being by itself, it will be in line with the Demo Tent and the tents of several groups and organizations.
Wholesale Marketing Workshop and Scholarships:
A wholesale marketing workshop will take place at the Craft Center on Saturday, March 6th. The workshop will include information about the Rosen Show, the George Little Gift Show, Kentucky Crafted, wholesale literature, dealing with shops, studio management and growth, purchasing supplies, etc. In order to encourage participation in the workshop, the Highland Rim Chapter decided to contribute $340 towards 16 partial scholarships. Six students will receive $15 towards the $25 cost and ten Highland Rim members will receive $25 towards the $45 cost. These are first-come-first-serve scholarships - in other words - the first six students and the first ten HR members to contact Noreen Grisolano (at 931-858-2833 or <gris@multipro.com>) before February 29th will be awarded the scholarships. Any unused scholarship money will be donated to TACA.
The Southern Edition of the Art Fair Source Book can be seen at the Craft Center Library and at the Alley Cat Studio at 715 East Spring St., Suite C, Cookeville (open noon - 9 pm) <acstudio@frontiernet.net>.
