| TACA Chapter Booth report: Chapters will now be able to participate in both the Spring and Fall Fairs. Suggestions for improvements: paint the shelves, start a customer mailing list, buy a Highland Rim banner or sign, provide a tax table for figuring, and look into accepting credit cards. Members voted unanimously to provide $100 towards expenses each time (in addition to the $60 provided for the bookkeeper). |
| The HR web page www.finecrafts.org was projected during the meeting. As a member of the Highland Rim Chapter, you can have your own gallery page for free. Just send the pictures and info to Andrzej at agutek@tntech.edu. Member's pages can accommodate pictures up to 800 pixels/72 dpi. Jpeg is the best format, but all types of photos and prints are OK. |

| Bruce Baker will present a TACA workshop that will focus on business on February 1-3, 2008, at Vanderbilt, the same weekend as the TACA Annual Board Retreat at Scarritt Bennett. |
| Board Meeting Report: Tim Hintz reported that TACA is looking for a new Director and web site host. The next Board Meeting will be February 1-3. Everyone is invited to attend. |
| Susan Thornton showed and discussed several web sites that promote and sell crafts, including Indipublic.com (free), ETSY (commission), and Trunkt.org ($99). The NY Gift Show, Accessory Show, and Martha Stewart Crafts were also mentioned. |

Opportunities: - Arts Business Institute (ABI) is making available a limited number of scholarships for any TACA member interested in attending the upcoming ABI / TACA Workshop! This special scholarship allows up to seven (7) members from each chapter to attend the full-day workshop at the discounted rate of $49.50, rather than the full price of $99. - Virginia Kail (931) 260-4729 needs pictures of work for her real estate web page for prospective clients. - Send photos of your work to Katie Haile at the TACA office to use for TACA publications and publicity. - Contact the Nashville Airport at (615) 275-1614 for info about exhibiting or demonstrating through their Art at the Airport program. |

Highland Rim People in the NEWS: Christine and Louis Colombarini had SCULTORE- PITTORE- ARCHITETTO on display Thanksgiving weekend during the 38th annual Carolina Designer Crafts festival in Raleigh, NC. They are also 2008 Niche awards finalists with Long-neck Vessel. Tim Hintz has an exhibition at the Tennessee Arts Commission until February 16th. Carol Ventura's tapestry crochet projects were included in the BLACK PURL HOLIDAY ISSUE and in the Winter INTERWEAVE CROCHET (the same issue also included an article about Carol and her work.) Kim Winkle had work at SOFA Chicago as part of CERF's Booth, at Milwaukee Fine Furnishings show in Function+Art's booth, in the Artful Home Show in NY, in Wichita National Contemporary Craft Exhibition, and she's a Niche Finalist with her painted furniture! Molly and Bill Meharg are preparing a 4 x 8' display board every week (September - April) at their church for 125 children, who really look forward to it. Susan Thornton was chosen along with 11 other artists to be on the cover of The Handbook to Handmade a book highlighting 36 artists from around the world. |
