Treasurer's Report: The balance is $1,796.71.
Katie Haile, TACA's Member Services Coordinator, told us what was happening at the office in Nashville. The Director resigned, and the Executive Committee will begin a search for a qualified candidate to fill this position. Michelle Clark was hired as a volunteer management consultant from the Center for Non-Profit Management and Jennifer Cole was hired to assess TACA's infrastructure and liabilities. Katie also said that the TACA web page is being redone to accommodate more member benefits, including a members-only area. Your work can be included in the online TACA Artist Gallery for a yearly fee; 4 images and text for $50 or 8 images and text for $100.
Andrzej projected the updated Highland Rim web page www.finecrafts.org during the meeting. As a member of the Highland Rim Chapter, you can have your own gallery page for free. Just send the pictures and info to Andrzej at agutek@tntech.edu. HR Member’s pages can accommodate pictures up to 800 pixels/72 dpi. Jpeg is the best format, but he can use all types of photos (including prints and slides). Andrzej recently completed pages for Laura Clemons and Molly Meharg.
When asked, what can TACA do for you? Most responded that help with marketing and networking, more exhibition venues, and better communication would be great.
Bruce Baker will present a TACA workshop on February 1-3, 2008, at Vanderbilt, the same weekend as the TACA Annual Board Retreat at Scarritt Bennett.
Tim Hintz reported that the TACA Board set several goals, including that Board Members should be trained by TACA and that every Chapter should try to increase their membership by 10%. The next Board Meeting will be at the Crafts Center at 10:30 on November 17th. Everyone is invited to attend.
Thanks to Mike Whiteman’s hard work, a variety of craftspeople filled the Fall Fun Fest booths – and netted our chapter $640! Some pictures of this year’s event are at http://www.finecrafts.org/Fun/2007.htm
Merritt Ireland was not able to attend the meeting, but she wanted everyone to know that Pacesetters really appreciates the $100 grant from our chapter.
The TACA Fall Fair (Sept. 28-30) is experimenting with a new idea – Chapter Group Booths. A few members from our chapter will participate this time (only the Spring Fair has allowed group booths). The TACA Fair Committee voted to lessen the restrictions; digital photography is now allowed, as long as it is done by the artist.
