MEMBERSHIP COMMITTTEE: Tim Hintz reported that they met with state people. They have been calling everyone who has not renewed to renew.Tthere are 28 people who have not paid their dues. PLEASE send in your dues. They decided at the state level to re-do our brochure. Discussed choosing a student to receive a free TACA membership. Other discussion led to suggesting a workshop committee to be formed since workshops are a big perk of being a member but we don’t have anyone to organize them. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN LEADING THIS COMMITTEE OR WORKING ON IT PLEASE CONTACT ROB HARVEY.
TN ART IN THE PARKS: Program in coordination with TN State Parks to place an exhibit in key state parks. Each chapter would make their own arrangements and have to provide the display. It would be a rotating exhibit every 90 days. This is not a sale opportunity but one for publicity basically for the artist and TACA. There could be a brochures made up directing people to the artist’s studio if they want. We would have to figure out which park in our area would be the best one to do this in. Fall Creek Falls gets a lot of visitors. This is a really good opportunity for each of us and for the chapter but again, THIS NEEDS A COORDINATOR PLEASE STEP FORWARD – of course more than one person can work on this. Contact Rob.
PICK TN PRODUCTS: We cannot participate because you have to be a producing farm meaning you have to have $1000 worth of product coming from your farm a year to quality as a working farm.
NEW DIRECTOR: Elaine Wood is our new director. Kim reported she was on the search committee and Elaine organized events for the Hard Rock Café, has taught, been on boards for art organizations, has done consultant work and is very well connected. We are hoping to have her come visit our chapter before our September meeting.
HIGHLAND RIM ACTIVITIES: We had a booth at the Celebration at ACC and talked to a lot of people about TACA. Highland Rim donated $400 to Friends of ACC.
A new gallery has opened up near Green hills Mall. LeQuire Gallery, 4304 Charlotte Ave, Nashville. TACA members who are in the gallery are: Claudia Lee, Thomas Spake, Ben Caldwell, Louis Colombarini, William Kooienga, Anne Goldman, Julie Shaw, Tom Turnbull, Brenda Stein, Donna Ricco, Scott Wine,
Jess Jones gave a very informative presentation on her method of copying images on fabrics and hand made papers. Thanks so much for sharing you techniques and enthusiasm!
